“I hope this finds each and every one of you and your loved ones enjoying life to its fullest. As most of you know, I am currently serving an 8-year prison sentence for an Aggravated DUI resulting in a motorcycle accident that caused the death of my friend Danielle Rachford. I cannot imagine the loss her family feels and how it affects every aspect of their lives, as well as my family's. There is another side to this story, and it begins and ends for me with my absence from the lives of my family, mainly my children Gavin and Taylor.

Let me cut to the meat of this prose: Taylor just entered her junior year of high school and decided to apply for pre-college courses at Northwestern University. She wrote an essay about the accident and was accepted into the Psychology internship program. With my absence, she needs financial help to pay what the scholarship does not cover. I am asking if any of my family and friends would be willing to help her with that burden. I am sorry for a great many things in my life, but my inability to close this financial gap and start my daughter on her journey to higher learning will forever be one of my greatest sorrows. Any help would be greatly appreciated from both my end and Taylor’s. Taylor has many academic goals for her future that I believe can be easily achieved with your assistance.”
