Empower Students with STEAM Robotics

Donation protected
At STEAM Robotics, we believe that brilliance knows no zip code. Founded by Michael Hughes, a dedicated public school science teacher and robotics club leader, our mission is to break down the financial barriers that prevent students from unlocking their potential in robotics and STEM fields.

We know firsthand that many students in under-resourced schools have the creativity, intelligence, and passion to excel in robotics—they simply lack access to affordable tools. That's why we have designed a high-quality, cost-effective robotics kit priced reasonably, making it possible for schools and students everywhere to participate in hands-on robotics education.

Our goal is to empower the next generation of engineers, inventors, and problem solvers, ensuring that opportunity is within reach for every curious and capable mind.

For those who are not familiar, there are five major robotics competitions for students 7th -12th grade. The cost for a basic robotics kit, which is required to compete, ranges from $200 - $4.000 depending on the competition you choose. That is one robot per team, which can be 2-15 kids. Most robotics competitions require students to:
  • design, build, program, and drive a robot;
  • analyze the game field and rule to create a game play strategy;
  • maintain an engineering notebook;
  • design and build a booth and/or presentation;
  • create and participate in an outreach program and learn to cooperate and communicate in a group.
These are the requirements for teams, regardless of experience levels. If you have a team full of beginners, or interested students that have no experience, the above tasks can be almost impossible. As a Robotics Coach, I saw students who were so excited about robotics, get very little time with the actual robot. Robotics teams and competitions are great, but if a child has little or no experience and wants to learn about robots, how to build a robot, how to code a robot, how to make it work, they will be disappointed with these teams.
My product will give every kid a chance to actually have hands on time with the robots. I have achieved this by creating a robot that costs a fraction of what the others cost. STEAM robots come in classroom sets of 25 for a total of $1,000, meaning each robot will only cost $40. With a STEAM robot, students will learn the basics of building and programming a robot. Every student in the classroom, or every student in the robotics club, can have a hands on experience with actually creating their own robot.
Another benefit with STEAM robotics is, current robotics competitions have larger robots, and larger game fields that can be as large as 12x12 feet. STEAM robots can use fields as small as a standard desktop.
Any funds you can contribute will help this startup become a reality.
