Support Alternative Breaks: Empower Students to Serve, Learn, and Create Change

We’re raising $6,000 to ensure that students from all backgrounds can participate in Alternative Breaks, a student-led program dedicated to meaningful service, social justice education, and community engagement.

Alternative Breaks is a registered student organization that offers service-learning trips where students spend their breaks exploring pressing social issues through hands-on service, education, and reflection. Each trip is carefully designed to help students engage deeply with communities, learn from diverse stakeholders, and understand the real-world impact of social issues.

Our trips focus on:

1. Immigration,

2. Environmental and food justice

3. Public health

4. Farmworker rights

5. Basic needs access

Students travel to communities across California’s Central Valley, South Bay, Oakland, San Francisco, San Diego, and even Puerto Rico, partnering with local organizations working on the front lines of social change.

Why We Need Your Help:

Alternative Breaks is entirely student-run. Our Trip Break Leaders facilitate a 2-unit DeCal course, plan a week-long spring break service trip, and collaborate with community partners. Our Directors work behind the scenes to support leaders, manage logistics, and sustain the program.

Your donation directly supports:

1. Lowering trip costs so all students—regardless of financial background—can participate

2. Transportation, lodging, and meals for service trips

3. Educational materials and workshops

4. Community partner support and honorariums

5. Emergency funds for students with financial need
