Stacy Li, a delightful 36-year-old woman from China, has survived an incredible physical and spiritual journey from hopeless darkness in her home country to the glorious light of Christ in the Pacific Northwest. Stacy is most deserving of our support through prayer and financial donations.
Stacy (Ping) Li was born as the second child in her family during the era of the One Child Policy. She grew up immersed in the brainwashing and propaganda of the oppressive Chinese Communist Party. The three year COVID-19 policy in China was an updated version of the Chinese Cultural Revolution, which she calls "a great experiment to see how submissive humanity will be." She lived through the resulting destruction of the family relationship, social stability, and fundamental trust of all Chinese people. She saw no hope for her future as she witnessed the evil side of the human race in a country built without faith. The global pandemic opened her eyes to the depth of destructive manipulation coming from the Chinese Communist Party.
After the Chinese border was reopened to travel in January 2023, Stacy resumed her international explorations. She traveled in the U.S. for the first time, making friends with strangers she'd never met before as she journeyed across the country by train. "Even though I didn’t know God yet during my travels, I know now that he was protecting me," she explains. Growing close to one of her new friends, a native of the Pacific Northwest, Stacy confided that she was searching for peace within herself. "The only true source of peace is Jesus Christ," her friend explained. Until that day, Stacy knew nothing of faith, of a loving God who knew her by name. She began attending church regularly with her friend, participating in weekly Bible Study, seeking baptism and confirmation, and giving her life to Christ.
In December of 2023, Stacy decided to apply for a masters degree in Chaplaincy to help her strengthen her faith. Her goal is to become a healthcare chaplain in the future, to be someone’s strength and comfort and to be there to listen to their grief. "I took one year to learn about myself, to introspect, and to review my actual fear, anger, and grief. Now I’m ready to move forward."
Stacy has had prayerful and financial support from a couple of churches since her arrival in America: Summit View Church in Battleground, WA; and St. Matthew's Anglican Church in Portland, OR. Both churches and many friends have helped her financially with her English learning in a local language school. In July of 2024, her St. Matthew's family joyously celebrated her first year of membership.
Stacy has enriched the lives of the church community. While she claims her church participation has helped her grow and mature in her spirituality, the churches claim Stacy has helped their members grow and mature in the importance of living our faith out loud.
While Stacy studies for her masters degree at Columbia International University in South Carolina, her student visa dramatically limits her ability to work to support herself. Please join Stacy's many friends in financially supporting her first semester in Fall 2024. Our initial goal is to raise $7,500 for tuition and books, and we hope to raise this amount each of the six semesters required by the program.
Important to know: One small transaction fee, 2.9% + $0.30, is automatically deducted per donation through GoFundMe. Everything else goes directly to Stacy for tuition and living expenses.
