My Story, well I was injured in a body surfing accident back in 2013 resulting in a C6 spinal cord injury and quadriplegia and life in a wheelchair, and all the other fun things that come with being a quadriplegic. I hate asking for financial help but the opportunity to attend this camp would be amazing I think both for me physically and mentally as well. The Freedom Trax will allow me to do a lot more activities I use to enjoy outside. The amount I'm looking to raise would cover both.

I was recently accepted into the Empower SCI residential program in Montana scheduled for June. Now the fun part paying for it, the camp is catered to individuals who have had an injury to their spinal cord. The program focuses on peer mentoring, rehabilitation counseling, and informal knowledge-sharing between individuals who are going through similar experiences and challenges in addition to formal physical therapy, occupational therapy, and recreational therapy. The yearly program consists of a combination of individual and group therapy sessions. Each program caters to the unique needs of the client. The EmpowerSCI team utilizes client-developed goals to maximize the client’s ability to lead a happier, more meaningful, and more independent life. EmpowerSCI’s focus is to allow individuals with spinal cord injuries the opportunity to participate in successful rehabilitation at a time in their lives where they are motivated, healed (both mentally and orthopedically), and have the potential to succeed. EmpowerSCI also runs wheelchair skills courses throughout the United States.

My hope is from this camp I will continue my journey of improved function and independence.

Additionally, I have the opportunity to purchase a Freedom Trax. This is a motorized track system designed to transform my wheelchair into an off-road vehicle that can traverse sand, snow, gravel, and mud. It is lightweight, versatile and rugged, the Freedom Trax is a portable and cost-effective track solution for off-road mobility. A typical track chair is around 15k and is very large and hard to transport. This is small enough to fit in the trunk of a car. Store it in a small closet at home. The intuitive design allows it to be extremely portable and take up very little space.
