Help Empower Rural Jamaica After Hurricane Melissa
Organizer: Wayne Kelly, Founder of One Step Forward
Goal: $25,000 to help communities rebuild stronger — one step at a time
When Category 5 Hurricane Melissa tore through Hanover, St. James, Westmoreland, Black River, and St. Elizabeth, it left roads blocked, farms damaged, and families cut off from clean water.
One Step Forward was created for moments like this. We’re not coming to do the work for them — we’re bringing the tools, training, and resources so that Jamaicans can rebuild for themselves.
Our goal is to provide:
Essential tools: chainsaws, drills, generators, and farming supplies.
Agriculture support: seeds, feed, and equipment for local farmers.
Clean, reusable water systems: 5-gallon containers and purification tablets — no single-use plastics.
️ Community preparedness: training and coordination to act faster next time.
Because no one wants a handout — they want a hand-up, and the means to do what Jamaicans do best: work together and rebuild.
“Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
That’s what drives us.
Please donate, share, and stand with One Step Forward as we help Jamaica rebuild — one community, one family, one step at a time. We’ll deliver:
Rebuilding tools: chainsaws, drills, trimmers, and generators to clear roads and repair homes.
Farming supplies: water pumps, seeds, and equipment to restart local production.
Safe water systems: reusable 5-gallon containers, purification tablets, and community filters — not single-use plastic bottles.
Essential supplies: food packs and durable containers for families in isolated parishes. I'm the founder of One Step Forward, a retired Marine currently living in Virginia. All funds will go towards helping the recovery efforts for Jamaicans after Hurricane Melissa.
️ Preparedness training: local volunteers equipped for faster response next time.
Because we refuse to solve one problem by creating another — we’ll bring clean water without plastic waste.
