Hi everyone, my name is Rontae Angry, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned over the past year, it’s that life has a funny way of opening doors right when you’re questioning how you’ll even make it to the hallway.
I recently received an opportunity I never imagined would be given to someone like me — I was selected to travel to China for two weeks to teach, learn, and grow alongside educators across the world. This isn’t just a trip; it feels like a confirmation that everything I’ve been pushing through, praying through, and surviving wasn’t for nothing.
Anyone who knows me knows I give my all to my students — my time, my energy, my creativity, even the parts of me that I’m still trying to rebuild. I show up for them because someone once showed up for me. And now, I’ve been invited into a global teaching experience that will help me bring back something priceless: a new perspective, new techniques, and new inspiration for the kids I serve every day.
Here’s the part that’s hard to admit:
I’m stepping into this moment with a lot of gratitude… and not a lot of financial cushion. This year has been beautiful but heavy. I’ve been overcoming challenges, rebuilding stability, and juggling NYC life while earning my master’s degree. Asking for help is not something I do easily — but growth has taught me that community is part of the journey.
So I’m choosing to push past the embarrassment and share this moment with the people who’ve supported me, prayed for me, rooted for me, or simply believed in who I’m becoming.
Your support will help cover:
Lodging
Food
Passport, visa & program costs
Anything you give — even a share or a kind word — helps me get closer to walking through this door that opened for me. And I promise, I’ll carry Brooklyn, my students, my family, and every single person who helped me get there.
Thank you for seeing me, believing in me, and helping me step into a chapter I never thought I’d get to write.
With love and gratitude,
Rontae Angry
