Our 8-year-old son lost his father unexpectedly on August 25, 2025 — just one month after celebrating his birthday. Nothing could have prepared us for the heartbreak that followed. His dad was his hero — a constant, loving presence who gave up his own athletic dreams and worked two jobs so our son could have every opportunity. Their bond was rooted deeply in sports, especially basketball, which they played together often. The timing of his passing made things especially hard — we had just covered back-to-school needs, his birthday, and then had to travel across the country for the funeral on September 5th, just days into the school year. While we’ve done everything we can to manage, the emotional and financial weight has been incredibly heavy. We’re asking for help to support his healing journey: therapy and grief counseling, school necessities, and positive activities like basketball, boxing, and tutoring to help him stay focused and supported through it all. These are things his father would have proudly provided if he were still here. We also need help covering the cost of the funeral travel and staying afloat during such a pivotal time in his childhood. More than anything, we want to give our son a sense of stability and hope — to honor his dad’s love by showing him that he’s still surrounded by care, even as his world has changed.
