Help Mrs. Ott take APUSH students on a So Cal College Tour
Donation protected
My name is Melinda Ott and I've been a teacher for 35 years. Currently, I am teaching AP United States History at High School in Northern California. We are a title I school and designated as a California Priority School.
For the past few years I have taken a group of young scholars on a trip to Southern California to visits colleges like UCLA, UCSB, and USC. Additionally, we make a visit to the Museum of Tolerance.
I have seen first hand how transformative this trip can be. The college visits help students get excited about college, in fact since I've started the trip roughly 90% of the students who go on the trip go on to attend a 4-year college two years latter when the graduate high school. Additionally, the visit to the Museum of Tolerance helps students to gain a better understanding of the tragedy of the Holocaust. It instills in them the need to remember those who died and work to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
Unfortunately, due to harsh budget cuts at both the local and state level we no longer have the funding we need to make this trip a reality. Please consider making a donation to help make this trip a reality.
