Empower Non-Speaking Students with Meme
Donation protected
Hello. My name is Meme and I am in my fourth year as a TSA (temporary support assistant) at a Title I elementary school.
I initially discovered this position after assisting my autistic son during his virtual kindergarten year. I have since put every bit of myself, including my paycheck, into guiding our special students who become my "babies."
We currently have a handful of non-speaking kids with and without their own AAC devices. The process to receive a device with Proloquo2Go installed can be tediously long, and then there is the learning period. I would love to have a device on hand that new students can experiment with during the wait period, but also for staff themselves to become familiar with the program. We have non-English speaking special education students that could benefit from another form of communication. We also would be so grateful to have a device to model for the students that have their own but do not like others to touch them.
Each child is so very different, so I try my best to meet their needs any way I can. Any amount of help is appreciated! Thank you for the support!
