Empower Noah Young: Support His Leadership Journey

Hello! I’m Noah Young and I’m currently a rising 12th grader at Broome High School. This year, I am in marching band leadership, an ambassador of Connect Spartanburg and Citizens Scholars, an AVID classmate, a Beta Club representative, and most of all, the student body president of the Broome High School Student Council.

Over the weekend of the 23rd-26th of May, I attended a Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) seminar at Presbyterian College. HOBY hosts these leadership seminars and other leadership experiences for high school students around the world, empowering more than 10,000 students every year. At the seminar, I learned so much about volunteerism, integrity, excellence, diversity, and community partnership. I learned to think critically about issues facing my community and how to use service to become an active, effective citizen and leader.

After attending the HOBY leadership seminar, I knew I wanted to continue to grow as a leader by attending HOBY’s World Leadership Congress (WLC). The WLC is HOBY’s week-long international experience that connects leaders from all over the United States and more than a dozen other countries to develop global leadership skills and learn to tackle challenging issues using the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as a framework.

Attending the WLC will be an outstanding opportunity for me and will help me make a positive impact in our community. During the week-long experience, my fellow global ambassadors and I will hear from world-class speakers and benefit from HOBY’s life-changing leadership development curriculum. I’ll bring back so many lessons and tools to make a difference in our community and empower those around me to give back to our hometown.

That’s why I’m asking for your help! The enrollment and program tuition for the WLC is $2,470. Whole no donation is too small, I am asking for scholarship donations of $50 and $100 to assist me in getting to the World Leadership Congress this summer. Because acceptance for the World Leadership Congress is on a first paid, first served basis, I am trying to raise the money by July 15. I am currently also working summer jobs, babysitting, and doing odd jobs to help in raising the needed funds.To make that investment in my leadership development, I’m asking for friends, family, local community members, and business owners to support my fundraising goal. Your contribution will help me bring positive, meaningful change to our community through service. I am excited and passionate about this opportunity, and I am very grateful for your support.
