Empower Nicole Reid's Dream of Becoming an Attorney

Greetings everyone,
My name is Nicole Reid, and I am a rising second-year student at Spelman College studying English on the Prelaw track, with a minor in Dance Performance and Choreography, from Savannah, Georgia.
This summer, I had the incredible opportunity to serve as a teacher's assistant at Spelman College with the Early College Program (ECP), College Prep Institute Programs (CPI 1&2), and the Jills Take Spelman program. This experience was profoundly impactful not only for the students but also for me. Working closely with a diverse group of students from various states, backgrounds, and experiences allowed me to develop my leadership skills and deepen my love for Spelman. I found immense fulfillment in mentoring and guiding these young minds, helping them navigate their academic journeys and personal growth.
This role also reinforced my commitment to giving back to the Spelman community in ways I hadn't imagined before attending. I saw firsthand the difference I could make, and it inspired me to continue pouring my energy and passion into Spelman.
Looking ahead, I aspire to become a sports and/or entertainment attorney, eventually transitioning into corporate law. My goal is to represent Black athletes and entertainers, ensuring they receive the fair representation and opportunities they deserve. This ambition drives me to excel academically and professionally, and I am determined to make a significant impact in these fields.
However, I am currently facing a significant challenge that jeopardizes my return to Spelman this fall. Due to a balance from Spring 2024, I am at risk of not being able to continue my education. I do not have a cosigner for private loans and lack substantial financial support from my family. Despite exhausting all options for funding, including scholarships and loans, I am still in dire need of assistance.
This situation is particularly disheartening as I have many plans for the upcoming semester.
Unfortunately, I did not receive on-campus housing and now must provide for myself independently, adding to the financial strain. I am reaching out for support to help me return to Spelman and continue pursuing my dreams. Your contributions will not only help me overcome this financial hurdle but also enable me to continue making a positive impact within the Spelman community and beyond.
Thank you for your generosity and support. The funds will go directly toward my Spring 2024 balance.
Sincerely,
Nicole Reid
