Empower NED Students in Memory of Syed Asim Ahmed

This is our fifth year that we are raising funds for the Syed Asim Ahmed (Mechanical Engineering Batch 92-93) Memorial Scholarship (Academic Year 2024-25) in loving memory of our friend Syed Asim Ahmed, who was with us during our journey at NED University of Engg and Tech.

Asim was an intelligent, smart, and dedicated person who not only made strides in his educational career but also as a great human being who always made a positive impact on the people around him. Asim came to the United States in 2000 and quickly became successful in the IT industry with his quick thinking ability, excellent work ethic, and dedication to excellence. He was also a very caring husband and a loving father of two young daughters when cancer took him away from us at the young age of 36 back in 2010.

We (alumni of Asim's batch at NED University - Mechanical Engineering Department) are trying to keep his memory alive through this scholarship that supports the needs of financially deserving and hard-working students of the Mechanical Engineering department at the NED university. Criteria are that the students must maintain at GPA of 3.0 or higher in their last examinations along with showing financial difficulty in affording to pay their semester fees.

For the year 2024-25 (which started a little earlier than the usual academic year), we will be supporting a total of 8 students with one full year of tuition (2 semesters). This will include 6 students who will receive scholarship renewals (one student will receive 50% renewal due to their failure to maintain the required academic standing) and two new freshmen students. NED University's Student Affairs department is selecting the two new students and will provide their names to us for that purpose. The fee structure for the year 2024-25 academic year is as follows.

***First-year fee for one student is PKR 125000/- and the renewal fee per student (for second, third and fourth year) is PKR 100,000/- per student. ****

So a total of about PKR 800,000/- will be raised for six renewal students and two first year students - Based on the current PKR to USD conversion rate of 1USD = PKR 278 and GoFundMe charges, we are targeting USD 3200.00 to be raised to sufficiently cover the scholarship for 8 students and GoFundme fees.

We will be raising funds until November 15th, 2024 and then will disburse to NED University in early December.
