Empower Mystic Open Studio with a Kiln

Mystic Open Studio is an artist collective in the heart of Arlington, MA. Our artists and crafters have skills and interest across many art mediums and styles. Together we teach and learn, build what we want and need, respect our resources, and welcome a diverse and curious community.

Among our dreams has been to own and operate a kiln for firing our ceramic pieces ourselves. Until now, we have been driving an hour to a kiln, where we drop off our artist and student work, then pick it up weeks later. By purchasing, installing, and then teaching ourselves how to fire clay, we will reach a major milestone in our businesses' growth and development. We will finally get to experience the joys, and frustrations, of the entire process of nurturing a lump of earth into a bowl or mug, glassy with colorful glaze and ready for use at the table.

Here is what we will purchase with your donations:

$3,600 for Skutt kiln + $225 taxes

"Furniture" for kiln (shelving) $200

3 new dipping glazes! $600

First year space rental and electrical usage $1200
