Dear Family/Friends/Community,
I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to share an exciting announcement. This message has been written, to not only inform you of the completion of my degree at the University of California, Santa Cruz, but with even greater news.
I've been accepted for the opportunity to participate in a study abroad program in Japan focused on the art of Mokuhanga, also known as Japanese woodblock printmaking. This program offers a unique and immersive experience to delve into the rich cultural heritage of Japan while honing my skills in this traditional art form.
As some of you may know, Mokuhanga has been a passion of mine for quite some time, and this program presents an incredible opportunity for me to deepen my understanding and mastery of this art form. However, as with many educational endeavors, there are costs associated with participating in this program that exceed my current means.
The Program consists of four weeks in Japan, from the end of July through August of this summer. In those four weeks, we will travel to Tokyo, Kyoto, and the countryside of Tokushima. We plan to study the printmaking techniques at the Awagami paper factory, as well as observe cultural architecture such as Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines, palaces, and gardens
Your contribution, no matter the size, will go a long way in helping me cover the expenses associated with tuition, travel, accommodations, and materials for the program. Your belief in my journey and passion for Mokuhanga would be a tremendous encouragement as I pursue this opportunity.
Thank you for taking the time to consider supporting me on this journey. If you have any questions or would like more information about the program, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
Kali Daniels
