Empower Matilda's Ballet Journey Abroad

Hi! I'm Matilda van der Fluit, a seventeen-year-old dancer with Long Beach Ballet Academy. I've been dancing for about twelve years now, specializing in classical ballet as well as growing my expertise in a few other dance styles. I truly love the rigorous art of dance, and it brings me so much joy to share that beauty with the rest of the world.

This summer, Long Beach Ballet Academy will be doing a five-week summer program with three weeks of training and rehearsals in California and another two weeks of the same with the Guangzhou Ballet in China. There will be three final performances of Coppelia at various theaters across China, which is an incredible opportunity for any dancer.

The path to becoming a professional ballet dancer is an arduous one which I am currently traversing, and it requires a lot of work, tenacity, and especially money to achieve. Long Beach Ballet Academy's summer program is an event that will increase my technique, strength, and enthusiasm for dancing, all of which are vital components of becoming a professional.

A final major benefit of attending this summer program is that I will be able to travel to a completely new country, build new friendships with new people, and continue to spread beauty through dance to the rest of the world.
