Marcus Moore is the owner and operator of Moore Crunch. He makes mini, crunchy seasoned pretzels. He started his business because as a man with autism, he was finding it hard to get a job where he would be able to afford to live independently. He is one of a handful of autistic people in the country that actually owns and operates his own business. He makes his pretzels, bags them, labels and seals each bag then packs and ships them.
Even though he has been running his business for some time now, so many people think that since he has autism, he isn't capable of running a business so he hasn't been able to get the support needed to move forward and grow his business. A lot of you recommended we try this platform because it has people on here that like to help others.
He has an opportunity to rent a kitchen space of his own which will allow him to hire others, like him, not only to grow his business but to help them live independently too. This space is a great opportunity for him since he has already been denied kitchen space because a property manager didn't think someone with autism could sign a contract. :(
He will need a few pieces of equipment, signage and most importantly preprinted bags for his pretzels. Marcus literally labels each bag with a front/back/flavor dot and barcode. This takes up an entire day that could be used for production.
Even with the costs of running a business increasing, he doesn't want to raise his prices which has cut into his profit margin. That cut has delayed the chance for him to get preprinted bags and other needed items.
Marcus is one of the kindest, caring people around and he just wants to have a shot at a 'normal' life like everyone else. The support of everyone that has shown him that he isn't stupid or useless (which is how he felt) and now he wants to keep going. He said, "even if you can't help with this I want you to know I am so happy you read about my story".
