Empower Maddie's Journey to SkillsUSA Nationals

Hi there! For people who don’t know me, I'm Maddie Yanez, a senior at Windham Technical High School in the Health Technology program. For the past 4 years, I have competed in SkillsUSA, winning Freshman Demo Finalist, Ambassador Award, and Nursing Assistant Finalist. For those of you who do not know, SkillsUSA is an organization that allows students around the world to showcase their skills within their trade. Each student is given the opportunity to connect with others in their trades at the regional, state, national, and world levels, where they are able to share their knowledge about their trade while gaining the resources to be able to have a job interview or be able to talk to an employer.
This year, I was given the opportunity to represent my school and the state of Connecticut as a delegate at the 2025 SkillsUSA National Competition in Atlanta, Georgia. As a delegate for the Windham Technical High School chapter, I will be given the opportunity to meet with other delegates from all over the United States. Although I would be able to connect with others, going to Atlanta would also allow me to support my school and the 5 students that earned their spot at nationals by winning 1st place in chapter display and EMT. I am very proud of these people and I can’t wait to help support them through this amazing journey we are able to go on.
