Give the gift of bread, hope and empowerment to a community of brave, dedicated women in Kenya! In Nkineji, a small village in the heart of Kenya’s Maasai Mara, Maasai women are stepping into a new future - at Destiny Gates Women’s Empowerment Center, women who never had access to formal education are learning to read, write, and build real trades that can sustain their families and prepare their community for a changing world.
The most recent project of the center is a community bakery - the building is funded, but the women still need essential equipment to turn this vision into reality. Once it’s up and running, the bakery will:
• Provide fresh bread, a vital staple, to the surrounding communities.
• Create income for Maasai women, giving them financial independence and the means to choose their own future.
• Help mothers support their families and send their children to school.
If empowering women, education, and sustainable change matter to you, this is a beautiful place to step in. A small contribution today helps put tools and equipment in the hands of these women—and brings the bakery one big step closer to opening its doors.

The Destiny Gates Foundation is a local charity that was founded by Mercy and Rowland Mburu, a Kenyan couple who began their journey ten years ago by opening their living room as a daycare for two children. Their goal was to support mothers in pursuing education, and over the years, their vision has blossomed into an organization with three locations across Kenya. Today, Destiny Gates operates two schools with 250 teachers, serving over 700 children from daycare through 8th grade each year. Their school in Chavakali is now one of the highest rated in the area, a testament to the dedication of the founders and their team.

I became aware of Destiny Gates through one of my best friends, who has volunteered with them for years. In 2023, she invited me to the Maasai Mara, where we ran a summer camp for children sponsored by Destiny Gates. The experience was life-changing—the culture, kindness, and resilience of the women left a lasting impression on me. I realized how much we take for granted in the US, and I was inspired by the unbreakable spirit and deep joy of this community. In addition to sponsoring the education of multiple Maasai students myself, I hope this campaign will make an even bigger difference for their community—and being an avid bread baker, this project is especially dear to my heart. Your support will help provide the bakery equipment needed to empower these women and transform their community. Please join me in making a lasting difference.
