Empower Maasai Girls: Education Fundraiser
Donation protected
In the middle of a cornfield outside Arusha, Tanzania, sits MWEDO (Maasai Women Development Organization) Secondary Boarding School. A haven for girls at risk of early marriage and female genital mutilation, MWEDO provides a full curriculum from science and math to English and history for Maasai girls ages 13 to 17. The students come from remote villages typically without electricity or running water.
My teenage daughters, Mady & Rachel, are honored this month to be teaching English and computer skills to these dedicated, clever and kind girls. Eager to learn, the girls actively participate and study diligently. The 150 students embody “knowledge is power” and have taught my daughters to value education and community.
$1,000 supports a girl for a full year – room, board, and education.
Recognizing how empowering education is for girls, we are raising funds to support a new student to attend MWEDO with the goal of all four years of support. My family is donating $1,000; consequently, the GoFundMe goal is $3,000.
Thank you so much for your contribution!
