Immigration and Customs Enforcement has laid siege to New Bedford, targeting members of our Central American immigrant community. Centro Comunitario de Trabajadores (CCT) is often the first place that immigrants call when their husband, father, or co-worker has been grabbed by ICE. We need your support so we can help these families.

In the past 36 hours, ICE has taken over 20 members of our community. In at least one case, ICE agents broke the windows of Nearly all of them are men employed in local businesses, such as seafood processing industry, and our local Market Basket. We do not know the status of each person, but we know that at least 8 of them have valid work authorization and no criminal records.

Nearly all of them are fathers of young children -- ranging from a one-month-old infant to students enrolled in our local schools. Because of the gender disparity in wages, they are generally the principal, or in some case the only, breadwinner in their family.
