Empower Lance's Progress with Stem Cells
Donation protected
HELLO! My name is Lance Maxwell! I am 7 years old and I have Cerebral Palsy. My family is raising money for me to receive a stem cell transfer. This is not my 1st stem cell transfer, actually this will be my first set of three transfers over a 10-week period. I have had four-single transfers in the past and my parents, doctors, and teachers are amazed by my progress!
A little background on me, I was born at 27 weeks and only weighed 650 grams. Doctors said I had a 6% chance of living and if I did I would be in a vegetative state, never doing anything for myself. I proved them all wrong at every step.
My parents say the word "no" means nothing to me in a lot of ways. When anyone says I can't do things I do it anyway. Because of this they searched for treatments that would help support me. When I was 2 years old they found stem cells. Every trial turned us down because I'm adopted and that disqualified me from every study. They didn't give up because I never give up. With the help of lots of great people, especially our American Legion I have been lucky to get my previous transfers. Since those transfers I am able feed myself, stand unsupported, walk with a walker, help get dressed, go to school, and I just started walking all by myself!
This time I will be getting a different type of stem cells that are proven to have better outcomes in physical and cognitive progress. I would really love to be able to communicate. I would like to be able tell my mom and dad what I need and play with my older brother!
Every penny of the amount we are asking for will go to my treatment, because we are asking for the exact amount of the treatment!
That is my story! If you can help, thank you and if you can't please share my story because that is helping!
