Empower Kaylynn Fish's Wildlife Conservation Goals

My name is Kaylynn Fish and I'm so excited to attend BYU in the fall! In 2022 my family moved to South Carolina from Montana. We were blessed to have most of the move paid for by my dad’s work. What we didn’t expect was that the move would significantly impact my financial aid for school. Financial aid is based on the taxes filed that year, and the move made it look like my family made a significantly higher income than we do.
As a result of the FAFSA we filled out, I didn’t qualify for any financial aid for school. My parents have been working with the school, but it doesn’t look like they have any way to adjust the financial aid for this upcoming school year. I have also been applying for scholarships wherever I can find them, but I haven’t been awarded any for BYU.
My parents instilled in me the desire to work hard and focus on my academics so that I could have the best opportunity for scholarships after high school. I dedicated myself to earning the highest grades possible, working hard in school and being involved in extracurricular activities.
I earned my way to Nationals for Speech and Debate, took and passed 8 AP courses and earned high marks, was a member of National Society of High School Scholars, National Science Honors Society, and National English Honors Society, worked hard for a 4.93 GPA and graduated Summa Cum Laude with honors in the top 3% of my class. In February my hard work paid off and I was accepted into the school I had been dreaming of going to since I was in elementary school.
I am majoring in Wildlife and Wildlands conservation. I have aspirations of working with and helping to save elephants and stop the poaching and abuse of those wonderful creatures. I want to leave the world better than I've found it.
Any assistance from here will go directly to my education at BYU so that I can achieve my goals.
Thank you!!
