Jullisa Hornsby: A Trailblazer in Deaf Women's Olympic Wrestling
Jullisa’s journey in wrestling began at the young age of 12, igniting a lifelong passion that has come full circle now, at the age of (still young!) 39. Over the years, Jullisa has combined her wealth of experience with personal coaching skills to continuously push her limits and retrain her mind and body to stay at the top of her game.
In July 2024, she faced one of her most challenging yet rewarding trials—a week-long grueling competition in Minnesota. Despite the intense demands of the tryouts, Jullisa's perseverance and dedication paid off. She made history by earning a spot on the first Deaf Women's Olympic Wrestling team to compete in Tokyo, Japan, in 2025.
But her achievements don't stop there. Jullisa is also an accomplished Judo athlete, and her hard work and determination have also earned her a place in the Deaf Olympics as one of the first Deaf Women Judo team too!! Jullisa Hornsby is not just an athlete; she is a pioneer and an inspiration to so many, breaking barriers and setting new standards for Deaf women in sports.
Help make her dream come true as one of the first Deaf women to compete in both wrestling and judo at the Deaf Olympics 2025 in Tokyo, Japan. Your donation will help with airfare, lodging, meals and required olympic related fees. Thank you for all of your support!!
