Empower Joey: Support Adaptive Tech & Joey's Independence

Donation protected
In May 2019, 13-year-old Joey De Leon suffered a Spinal Cord Stroke. This rare condition left him paralyzed from the neck down, with no ability to use his arms and legs. One of Joey's doctor's at Rady Children's Hospital located in San Diego, personally reached out to the founder of our company, Rehabilitation Care Coordination, in hopes that our company could find a way to assist. (RCC is a private company that offers medical case management and life care planning services for those with catastrophic and life changing injuries.) We have since worked closely with Joey and his mother, Jocelyn, helping in any way we can.

We're reaching out on behalf of Joey, who has faced significant challenges but continues to inspire us all with his determination and positivity. He is turning 18 years old this year and will be finishing high school soon with plans to go to college. He has been excelling in his studies and has received the top scholar award from Mira Mesa Highschool.
Being a quadriplegic, he relies heavily on adaptive technology to communicate, complete his school work and extracurricular activities, and navigate daily life. Unfortunately, his current eye tracker device is straining his eyes from daily and prolonged use. Joey was evaluated by an adaptive tech specialist, who is also a quadriplegic himself and has recommended a new device called Augmental MouthPad^. This device could be used in conjunction with Joey's existing eye tracker and will continue to promote his independence, improve comfort and quality of life, and allow easier access to mobility, education and communication.
Additionally, Joey requires ongoing therapy to maintain his physical health and well-being. He has to pay out-of-pocket for his specialized physical therapy. As you can imagine, the costs of his needs and therapies can be overwhelming for their family who has limited funding source. That's why we're reaching out to our community for support. Your donation will directly contribute to purchasing a new adaptive tech device tailored to Joey's needs and ensuring he receives the vital therapy sessions he require.
Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. Together, we can empower Joey and his family with the tools and resources they need to thrive.

On behalf of RCC and Joey's entire family, we thank you so much for your prayers, generosity and support.
