Empower JJ's Journey: Help Bring Dimitri, His Lifeline, Home

Hello everyone,

I'm reaching out to you with a heartfelt request. My name is JJ Andrews, and I'm a ten-year veteran of the Air Force, currently serving in the Tennessee Air National Guard. I'm embarking on a journey to improve my life, and I need your support.

I've faced my fair share of challenges, including battling with Type 1 diabetes and overcoming alcohol addiction. However, amidst these struggles, I found solace and purpose through my time at Warriors Heart, a rehabilitation center focused on veterans. It was there that I discovered the profound impact of service dogs on mental and emotional well-being.

During my time at Warriors Heart, I underwent training to become a service dog handler. I experienced firsthand the incredible bond and support these animals provide. Now, I'm determined to have my own service dog, a Belgian Malinois named Dimitri.

Dimitri isn't just any dog; he's a Belgian Malinois, known for their intelligence, loyalty, and protective nature. With their high capacity for training, I believe he is the perfect companion to assist me in my daily life.

There are three primary reasons why I need Dimitri by my side. Firstly, as a Type 1 diabetic, I often experience hypoglycemia without any noticeable symptoms. He will be trained to alert me to dangerous drops in my blood sugar levels, potentially saving my life.

Secondly, I'm a recovering alcoholic. The therapy I received at Warriors Heart, particularly working with service dogs, played a crucial role in my journey to sobriety. Having Dimitri with me will provide ongoing support and motivation to stay on the right path.

Lastly, I struggle with depression and anxiety, especially when alone. The presence of a service animal significantly reduces my symptoms and helps me navigate challenging situations with greater ease.

I'm aiming to raise $2,500 to cover the initial costs of purchasing Dimitri, necessary training equipment, a kennel, and transportation expenses. Any additional funds raised will be allocated towards advanced training for Dimitri, ensuring he becomes the best possible service companion.
