Hello everyone! My name is Jacquita, and I’m a proud student at Texas A&M University–Central Texas, majoring in Sociology with a minor in Psychology. I’m reaching out because I’ve been given an incredible opportunity. It’s one that will not only expand my education, but also allow me to represent my family, my university, and my community on a global stage.

I have officially been accepted into the Study Abroad Program in Amsterdam, taking place May 18–26, 2026. This experience will allow me to explore topics I’m deeply enthusiastic about, such as culture, community, and social behavior, in an international setting. As a Sociology major, I want to understand how people build community across different countries and bring that knowledge back home to inspire and empower others.

But as amazing as this opportunity is, it comes with financial challenges. I’m raising $5,500 to cover essential costs, including my passport, travel expenses, housing, and program fees. My first deposit of $500 is due by November 12th, and the remaining balance is due around March 1, 2026. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, moves me closer to my goal.

This trip means more to me than just travel. It represents growth, strength, and faith. As a Black woman in higher education, I’m proud to break barriers and create pathways for those who come after me, especially my family and children, who I want to see dream bigger, reach higher, and know that anything is possible through hard work and belief in yourself.

At Texas A&M–Central Texas, I’ve learned that education is more than books and lectures. It’s about experience, leadership, and giving back. Studying abroad will allow me to do just that. I will learn and bring new knowledge back to my university and community.
