Empower Jackie Bullard's Journey to Freedom

My name is Jackie Bullard, I’m from Tinton Falls, NJ and I am facing the biggest challenge of my life. I graduated from Livingston College, Rutgers University and for the next 34 years, dedicated my life to working for Rutgers. During that time my journey took an unexpected turn. I began experiencing pain, numbness, tingling, and a burning sensation in my feet and legs.
In 2011, I was diagnosed with a rare and incurable genetic condition, Adrenomyeloneuropathy (AMN), which destroys the X chromosome, damages the nerves and weakens muscles in my legs and feet. It eventually forced me into retirement in the Spring of 2012. I can no longer lift or control my legs and can barely walk.
My insurance has paid for various personal and medical equipment that is sturdy, durable and heavy. Due to my loss of muscle and damaged nerves, much of this equipment I can only use when I have help. I need to purchase lighter weight equipment for mobility when I am alone. Unfortunately, insurance will not cover these lighter weight items.
I want so much to be able to improve my quality of life, to be able to go outside in the fresh air and sunshine by myself. I want to be able to go up and down stairs, get in and out of vehicles to more easily get to appointments, go shopping, and just go for a ride when I am offered the chance. My goal is to raise $30,000. Any donation is greatly appreciated and will be used for medical and mobility equipment and supplies.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I would very much appreciate it if you would share it, post it and donate to my GoFundMe campaign. Together, we can bring a higher level of independence back into my life.
