Support the Scarborough Blues Lancers Girls Basketball Team

Dear Friends, Family, and Community Supporters,

We are reaching out on behalf of the Scarborough Blues Lancers Girls Basketball Team, an inspiring group of high school athletes, aged 14 to 18, from Scarborough on the east side of Toronto, Ontario. These young women are not just talented athletes but also exceptional students—most of them proudly earning spots on the academic honour roll.

The Scarborough Blues Lancers are making history this season, currently ranked as the #1 team in the Ontario Basketball Association (OBA) U19 division. Over the past three years, they have consistently medaled in the top 3, showcasing their relentless work ethic, skill, and dedication.

For these young women, basketball is more than a game—it’s an opportunity to build lasting friendships, learn life lessons, strengthen their faith, and pursue excellence in a supportive environment. However, a large percentage of the team comes from low-income families living in Scarborough’s inner-city neighborhoods. Financial barriers can make it difficult for these girls to fully participate in competitive basketball. Despite the challenges, they remain committed to their team and their community, demonstrating resilience, determination, and leadership both on and off the court.

This season, the team needs your support to help cover the many costs associated with playing at an elite level. These expenses include:

Tournament entry fees

Travel and accommodations for away games

Uniforms, gear, and equipment

Practice space rentals and coaching support

We are aiming to raise $10,000 to cover these expenses. With your generous support, we can ensure that all players—regardless of financial circumstances—have the opportunity to compete, develop, and shine this season.

Every dollar donated will directly impact these student-athletes by providing the resources they need to thrive. Beyond basketball, you’re contributing to an environment where these young women grow into strong, confident leaders who understand the value of hard work, community, and faith.
