Empower Hispanic Stories: Fund Gabriella's Film, our shadow

Hi everyone! My name is Gabriella Marez and I am a Senior at the University of New Mexico, working towards a BFA in Film and Digital Arts. With your help and support, I will be able to create my short film, "our shadow", for my Senior Capstone project.

"our shadow" is a short thriller set in the 1960s.

Emily moves into her first dorm room in hopes of hiding from her traumatic past, but it follows her in the shape of a shadow that haunts her at night. With the help of her best friend and Nana, Emily navigates her traumatic past and confronts her darkness.

My Goal

"our shadow" addresses generational trauma in a Hispanic family, and my goal with this story is to leave the audience with the feeling of hope.

I want my audience to feel empowered and seen by this story, and to create a space for connectivity and nostalgia. I believe it is extremely important to have Hispanic representation on screen and to have our stories seen and told.

With your donations, I will be able to purchase catering for the crew, set decorations, props, costumes, equipment rentals, and most importantly, we will be able to bring "our shadow" to life.
