Hello, my name is Lindsi Hanson, and I’m launching a first-of-its-kind program in Maine that teaches younger girls real lobstering skills, hands-on, directly on the water.

Girls today rarely get the chance to experience Maine’s maritime traditions up close — especially in a safe, guided, and educational setting. I want to change that.

This program will empower girls to:

• Safely haul lobster traps

• Learn ocean safety and proper gear

• Understand lobster rules & conservation

• Do knot-tying and buoy reading

• Build confidence, independence, and teamwork

• Gain REAL on-the-water skills they will never forget

Why I Need Funding:

To launch this program, I need help with the startup costs, including:

• Partnering with a licensed captain and securing boat time

• Safety gear for the girls

• Insurance

• Buoys, bait, totes, and basic lobstering equipment

• Marketing and community outreach

• Permits and operational costs
