Empower Girls in Ghana and Zambia: Support UBCO Nursing Students' initiative to improve Menstrual Health and Raise Funds for Feminine Hygiene Products!
Girls in Zambia and Ghana face many challenges in accessing menstrual health products. This impacts their ability to attend school and often leads to girls dropping out because of their menstrual cycle. Our mission as 4th year Nursing Students at the University of British Columbia Okanagan (UBCO) is to raise funds to support girls in Ghana and Zambia.
Each year a group of fourth year nursing students travel to Ghana and Zambia to provide healthcare and education on important topics. One of those topics is female sexual and reproductive health. Students provide education on feminine hygiene and bring menstrual product kits, helping keep girls in school.
The UBCO nursing program has been dedicated to this cause since 2004 and will be going on their next trip to Ghana in 2026.
How Can You Help?
With each donation you can help support the wellbeing of young girls in Zambia and Ghana - because no girl should be held back by her period.
Here's how you can contribute:
1. Donations: 100% of donations will go towards supporting and empowering girls in Ghana and Zambia. With the money raised we will purchase reusable feminine hygiene kits to send to Ghana and Zambia with UBCO Nursing Students on their next trip. These kits are meant to last the girls for several years and cost approximately $15 a kit.
2. Spread Awareness: Share our initiative with your friends, family and community. Every voice matters and with your help we can raise awareness and gain support for this cause.
Together we can work towards a world where every girl has the resources she needs to succeed!
Thank you for your support and generosity!
