Empower Future Leaders: Support ICAM Scholarships

As an alumna of Immaculate Conception Academy of Manila (ICAM) in Tondo, Manila, I am deeply grateful for the education I received, which has shaped the person I am today. From co-ed elementary to all-girls high school, ICAM’s rigorous curriculum, its focus on community service, and its compassionate teachers nurtured my growth, instilled in me a lifelong love for learning, and prepared me to pursue my dreams.

Please join us in making a difference in the lives of three students, who will carry the torch of ICAM’s values into their future, just as I and so many others have done.

ICAM’s strong foundation led me to study Philosophy at De La Salle University in Manila and later, after migrating to the U.S., to complete my bachelor’s at the State University of New York, in Cultural Studies with a concentration in Philosophy, and years after, to go to law school. Today, I teach as an adjunct professor at Manhattan University and serve as a founding supervising attorney at the New York City Asylum Application Help Center, continuing my family's legacy of public service. The Center was recently awarded the prestigious American Bar Association’s Hodson Award for exemplary public legal service.

My journey and success were made possible through the unwavering support of my parents, who worked tirelessly to provide me with the best education. In tribute to them, and to my grandparents—both lawyers and public servants who practiced law in the heart of Tondo—I founded my own immigration law firm in Manhattan’s Financial District. In 2016, I co-founded Tondo Hungry Hearts, a non-profit dedicated to helping out-of-school children return to their studies and break the cycle of poverty.

Now, as we prepare for our homecoming, I want to honor the school that has given me and so many others the opportunity to rise beyond our circumstances. I want to especially give tribute to our teachers whose empowering words remained with me to this day. My schoolmates and I are raising funds to provide scholarships for three exemplary ICAMites, ensuring they have the same opportunities to fulfill their potential.

Stories like mine are not uncommon among ICAM alumni. Many of us have gone on to achieve great things, thanks to the values and education instilled in us during our time at ICAM. By supporting this campaign, you will not only help sponsor the education of three promising students, but you will also be part of a legacy of empowerment, service, and excellence.
