Empower Future Leaders at Fort Myers High School

DECA is an international organization that prepares high school and collegiate students for careers in business, hospitality, entrepreneurship, and other related fields. Participation in DECA encourages the development of important leadership skills necessary for success in both college and in the workplace, including effective communication, research skills, and critical thinking skills.

DECA has many different conferences throughout the year for students to expand their leadership, networking, and interpersonal skills. For the various conferences, students will have to spend an estimated: $350 for SCDC and $500 for ICDC. This amounts to a considerable amount of money per student, excluding other costs like food or a DECA blazer (~$90 with tax/shipping), an article of clothing students must purchase in order to compete or receive an award on stage.

As a growing chapter, we hope to continue expanding our presence at Fort Myers High School in serving students with resources to become future leaders. We hope to assess the number of students who can make states, and internationals each year as a measurement of our success. In the future, and with additional resources, we hope to waive the cost for students who face financial hardships so they can still attend state/international career development conferences.
