Help the Gatlinburg-Pittman High School Fire Science Course.
Hello Everyone!
Recently I came across a post from a group of students from a high school in Gatlinburg, TN. The students are part of a fire science class where they not only learn about firefighting, but actually perform firefighter skills. The students travel to various fire departments and conferences and learn for real first responders.
On their social media, they have set a goal to attend a large firefighter conference in Indianapolis. The conference is called the International FDIC and is the largest conference in the US. The students not only wish to attend the conference, but they also plan to complete the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb that will take place in Lucas Oil Stadium during the event.
In a social media post, the instructor stated that she was looking for sponsors to help with the cost of the trip. She stated that the more fund raised, the better the experience. She stated that they must obtain funding for travel to and from the conference, lodging, conference registration, and the stair climb. She stated that it would be roughly $500/student including food.
What the school and the teacher are doing for these students is important. We need to support programs like these to foster a sense of community. Please help in raising money for this cause.
