Hi, my name is Mike Smart, and I’m a passionate entrepreneur, father, and advocate for healthier, more sustainable living. I’m the founder of Smart Farms LLC and the creator of Bucket Buddies, a fun and educational brand that teaches families and kids about the importance of growing their own food.

Why I’m Raising Funds

Today, more than ever, families need access to fresh, healthy food. But the reality is that many people face obstacles—whether it’s a lack of space, harsh climates, or just not knowing where to start. That’s why I’m launching the Bucket Buddies Grow Kits, designed to make indoor farming simple, fun, and accessible for everyone.

But I need your help to make it happen. I’m raising $8,000 to fund the production and launch of our first wave of grow kits. These funds will help us create eco-friendly packaging, manufacture the kits, and cover initial marketing costs to bring this much-needed product to families across the country.

My Story: The Inspiration Behind Bucket Buddies and Smart Farms

I grew up in Washington, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the power of plants. Now living in Colton, South Dakota, a small town with just 700 people, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges families face when it comes to accessing fresh food—especially during long, snowy winters. This reality inspired me to create something that could change lives: an easy way for families to grow their own food, no matter where they live or what the weather is like.

Bucket Buddies began as a children’s book series, teaching kids how to grow food and care for the environment. But it quickly grew into a larger mission—a mission to make indoor farming a practical reality for families everywhere. Now, with our Bucket Buddies Grow Kits, we’re making that dream a reality.

We’re living in a time where the quality of our food is under scrutiny. Grocery store shelves are stocked with produce that often lacks the nutrients we need. But there’s a solution: growing your own food at home. Our Bucket Buddies Grow Kits are designed for busy families, those with limited space, and anyone who wants to take control of their food sources.

These kits aren’t just about growing food; they’re about creating a hands-on, educational experience for families.
