Hello everyone! My name is Ethan Hemmings and I a masters student for NYU Steinhardt pursuing violin performance. I am in need of emergency assistance to help pay for my education costs (tuition and housing) due to unexpectedly becoming unemployed due to reasons outside of my control with changes in job start dates and enrollment.
As most of you know, I graduated from Shenandoah Conservatory with a BM in Music Production & Recording Technology with a Performance Certificate in Violin. It took a long way to get where I am now. 13+ years of studying the violin, summer music camps, two international tours in Argentina and Japan, hours in the recording studio, and even more hours in the practice rooms I've stayed in.
I couldn't have done this without your support over the years, especially in the past 6 years since I was able to buy my first instrument, bow, and case I could call my own due to generous donations from a prior GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/4b79d22c.
Your support will help me recover solid grounding in pursuing my masters and this stage of my musical journey. Since moving to NYC: I've become a section violinist with the Symphony of Westchester, peformed in a tribute concert with and for Alan Menken, recorded violin independently for local artists, made connections with some of my role models, and became a violinist for the recently regrouped jazz-fusion ensemble Combo Nuvo.
Any help, even a little help, goes a long way. Feel free to share this page with others and support a young, Black artist.
Sincerely,
Ethan Hemmings
