Empower Erik's Mobility: Donate for a Standing Wheelchair

Hi, my name is Erin. I am the adoring sister of Erik Raux. If you’ve met Erik, you know just how special he is and that he’s probably smiling right now. He is the most happy and tenacious person I know. He simply does not accept defeat and never will. He's a loving husband to the hilarious and beautiful, Makayla, and wonderful father to two brilliant boys, Maverick (4) and Kallen (1).

I want to share Erik's journey since his heart transplant last year. On May 2nd, 2023, Erik underwent a life-changing surgery to receive a new heart. We were excited and hopeful, but soon after, he faced serious complications that led to multiple open-heart surgeries and, unexpectedly, left him as a T10 complete paraplegic. Doctors believe he experienced a spinal stroke during the three weeks he was sedated.

Despite these challenges, Erik's new heart is thriving after a year, which is a huge relief. Now, our focus is on improving his mobility. He is determined to adapt to his new reality. Specialized equipment will help. One crucial piece that could greatly enhance his daily life is a standing frame wheelchair. This equipment allows him to stand upright, which promotes better circulation and overall health.

Unfortunately, like many medical devices, the standing wheelchair comes with a substantial price tag of $5,823. As a family, we are doing everything we can to support Erik, but the financial burden is significant. Any assistance towards covering the cost of this wheelchair would mean the world to Erik and our families and help him regain some independence and quality of life.
