Empower Edward to Finish His Education and Help Others

My wife Kim and I met Edward when he was 12 years old living in a Children's Home in Kenya. At such a young age, he had already experienced a lifetime of trauma...losing both parents, being abused by his uncle, alone and malnourished. We could see there was a hunger to learn and grow and belong. In 2009, we began sponsoring Edward through Oasis for Orphans.

“When I joined Oasis, my world changed for the better,” says Edward. “I was welcomed and loved. Through the words of encouragement and motivation I received from the staff and my new family, I was filled with hope again. I realized I was no longer alone in the world.”

We traveled to Kenya to minister to these orphan children nearly every year and watched Edward grow and develop into a fine young man. He was able to get into one of the best secondary schools in Kenya, then got into Kenyatta University. After graduating with a degree in Accounting, he became the first graduate of Oasis to come back and serve as a staff member! But Edward's dreams were not over...

Edward was accepted at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and is studying to earn a Masters in Non-Profit Management. The main reason Edward was able to get his Student Visa was because he was awarded the Timothy Scholarship. Unfortunately, Edward received this email shortly after arriving in the US.

Good Morning Edward, We regret to inform you that the Timothy Scholarship is currently unavailable as the funds have been depleted. We understand how disappointing this news may be, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

When we spoke to Edward, he just said, "This is just another hurdle." Edward has overcome so much and has seen God provide for him each step of the way. Would you consider helping Edward overcome this financial hurdle so he can finish school and return to Kenya and use his education to help other orphan children?
