Hi, I'm Carol Leggett. My husband Brad and I run a small non-profit, D.U.O. Ministries. This ministry currently has three channels of ministry: a Christian radio station, a functional medicine and counseling center, and we support an orphanage in the mountains above Kampala, Uganda.
We are seeking support for our orphanage now. The goal for the orphanage is to become self-sustaining and we have made large strides in that direction. Now, to push past this next level, and become fully self-sustaining, we need to build up the poultry business that the orphanage started last year.
The orphanage is currently covering most of their monthly budget as well as their medical needs. They are still in need of support for education, new mattresses, clothing, extra mosquito netting, healthier food, and a better water source. We believe if we can increase the sale of chickens and eggs, which are in high demand, then they will soon be able to cover these other needs as well. They have also started growing crops which will produce more income in the future, as well as raising some pigs. However, the quickest way for them to increase financially, is to increase their poultry business.
So, the $6,500 will go for buying many more chicks, supplies for the chickens ($1,000), $2,500 for school fees and supplies for the year, $2,200 for mattresses and mosquito netting and cream, and $800 for shoes and miscellaneous items.
We have been through many struggles with Duo Orphanage in Uganda. When we started ministering there, they were not able to meet any of their monthly budget, they couldn't cover any schooling or medical bills, and they didn't have a place to worship. We've come a long way since then, even though we had challenges with staff in the past, a move that was necessary from one area of Kampala to the mountains above Kampala, and losing several donors after the move. God has been faithful and we have all worked very hard to overcome these challenges. Those running the orphanage are extremely motivated and loving; they are working hard to become self-sustaining, as I have mentioned previously.
Please help these beautiful children have the life they deserve! Their goal is not to be dependent on others; their goal is to rise above their situation with hard work and the help of God and wonderful people, like you, who will help this orphanage become self-sustaining by investing in this amazing ministry with amazing children!
Thank you in advance, for your generosity!
Carol Leggett
