Empower Deaf Gazans: Donate for Survival
Donation protected
Deaf Relief Gaza is a grassroots mutual aid effort born from the relationships formed between deaf Gazans and deaf activists in the US. Omar is our main organizer on the ground in Gaza. He is a deaf Gazan with dreams of becoming a graphic designer and the founder of the social media [email redacted]ief.gaza . He creates educational content about the needs and experiences of deaf Gazans, as well as updates about how the mutual aid funds we raise are bettering the lives of the deaf community in Gaza. Omar is well connected with the Palestinian culturally deaf community, as he is a native user of Palestinian Sign Language and has been raised amongst deaf and signing friends, teachers, and mentors. Before being displaced Omar worked as a teacher for deaf schoolchildren.
U.S. based deaf organizer Grace facilitates money transfers once donations are received, and Omar is responsible for facilitating community needs assessments and disseminating funds which are used for: receiving food, hygiene necessities, and clothing for deaf Gazans, securing or repairing assistive devices such as hearing aids or hearing aid batteries, has also included assistive devices that are going to people who are deaf and have additional disabilities such as glasses or mobility aids. Money is distributed based on the urgency of needs.
