Empower CrossFire 20080X's Robotics Journey

WE ARE CROSSFIRE 20080X ROBOTICS. We are a group of high school students independently entering the VEX Robotics competition “High Stakes” and are actively seeking sponsors to help support our team expenses.

VEX Robotics is a global education robotics program that encourages students to learn STEM through hands-on experience. We are asking if you would consider donating financially towards the costs associated with our new team.

The robotics program requires students to design, build, and code a robot. The completed robot then competes in matches in which two alliances of two teams each, play against each other. In addition, there is a “robot skill challenge” to test the ability of the team's robot to compete alone (autonomous mode) against the clock. Online components of the competition require the use of computer aided design(CAD), animation, as well as a section requiring students to record the design process in a notebook journal.

This year our team launched out as an independent team beyond that of our High School robotics team. By doing this, we hope to further our ability to compete in more tournaments and increase exposure to high ranking competitive teams. Being independent requires us to seek out funds to support the financial part of robotics.

Competition registration fees range from $100-$230 per competition. Equipment costs for a robot start at $1200 and can often exceed $2500. Additional expenses include tools, batteries, and accessories. Our team is also responsible for the purchase of our own field at the cost of $1430. Past the initial competition and equipment fees, we will also accrue travel expenses for competitions. Although most competitions are within driving distance, some of the further tournaments require overnight stays. Overall, our expected expenses are $6000 for the season.

We began this journey as a simple robotics team. Without going into specific detail, our small team in the last few months has experienced much more than just robots. We have faced challenges that have required us to band together and support one another on a different and higher level. Through this experience, we have been deeply branded with the true meaning of TEAM. We intend to go above and beyond what others in our circle of exposure have done. We are dedicated to this endeavor. Whatever you are able to donate towards our goals will be greatly appreciated.
