Help Keep Brown Books and Paintbrushes Free for All Families
Brown Books and Paintbrushes is a free, community-based space where children learn about Black culture through art, literacy, and cultural programming. Our work is open to all families and rooted in the belief that every child deserves access to books, creativity, and learning that reflects care, history, and joy. All while they PLAY.
We bring books and art directly into communities through pop-ups, play spaces, festivals, classrooms, and family events. Everything we do is free. That has always mattered to us.
Right now, we are in between grants. While funding cycles pause, the need for free, welcoming spaces for children does not. Families are still showing up. Children are still asking for books. Communities are still asking for us to be present.
Your support helps us continue to show up by covering:
- Children’s books and art materials
- Program and pop-up supplies
- Transportation, storage, and setup costs
- Support for the artists and educators who lead our programming
This fundraiser is not about growth or profit. It is about sustaining the work and keeping our programs accessible while we wait for funding to catch up with the real-time needs of families.
If Brown Books and Paintbrushes has been part of your child’s life, your classroom, or your community, or if you believe all children deserve free access to art, literacy, and cultural learning, this is one way to support.
Thank you for being part of this village and for helping us bridge this moment.
Brown Books and Paintbrushes
Always free. Always for the children.
