Update as of May 9th: We have officially reached our original goal! We are so thankful for the incredible generosity so many people have shown these precious children.

Because of this incredible response, we are now able to continue expanding support to continue to address the immediate needs of the children. We need your support to continue to cover the bills associated with providing a loving, safe home for these children. Additional donations will go directly toward paying the meager salaries of the caretakers, theTias (which translates to "aunts" and is their title), who act as the moms of the children at Hogar Dulce Hogar, living with them full time and caring for their needs day and night, in addition to the special end of year event celebrating their academic growth and goals. Every dollar raised will go directly to Fundación Hogar Dulce Hogar, a registered nonprofit serving at risk or abandoned children here in Mexico City!

This year, I have the incredible privilege of working as a teacher and caregiver at Hogar Dulce Hogar (Home Sweet Home), an orphanage in Mexico that has been operating as a nonprofit for over 40 years. It currently provides a safe and loving home for 31 children, ages two to twelve.

These children come to Hogar Dulce Hogar due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment. They receive counseling and psychological support to work through trauma, access to education through the local school and after school tutoring, and the steady loving presence of the dedicated staff, the Tías and Tíos who work day and night to create a safe, family-like environment. Anyone who visits quickly sees and feels the joy, love, and care that characterize this special community!

Over the past months, I have witnessed firsthand the remarkable resilience, empathy, and enthusiasm for learning these children demonstrate every single day.

The funds raised through this campaign will fully cover:

-School fees for the 2026-2027 school year for 31 children

-Educational supplies and learning materials

And go towards:

-Retaining dedicated caregiving staff, and hiring new staff to support the enormous work load

Education changes trajectories for these youth. Consistent academic support, materials, and caring adults make a lasting difference in their confidence and future opportunities.

The Tías and Tíos are essential to the well-being of the children. They provide daily care, guidance, structure, and emotional safety, which is the foundation these children need to grow and thrive.

Additionally, I am working with the children to prepare a Spring Program (a concert and play) as a culminating event for all their hard work learning English, and I will invite everyone who donates to attend if you are in the Mexico City area, or to view it via livestream if you are not! There I will present in one sum all the funds contributed by all of you!
