Dear Beloved Community,
My name is Camille Asia, and I am a certified RYT-200 anti-racist Raja Yoga teacher based in Northampton, MA. I am reaching out to you today with a heartfelt vision to create a transformative healing space for our community—one where yoga is not performative, watered down, or exclusive, but where it is a practice deeply rooted in anti-oppressive and trauma-informed principles.
In the West, yoga can often feel disconnected from its true purpose and reduced to physical exercise or a performance of flexibility. This approach leaves many of us feeling unseen, unwelcome, and unable to fully embrace the true power that yoga (yoking) has to offer. I believe in a different way forward—one where yoga serves as a tool for healing, self-empowerment, and reconnection with the divine essence living within each of us.
I am committed to guiding my community through practices that release shame, fear of rejection, and the weight of waiting for external validation. Together, we can rise within ourselves, and remember that we are the ones we've been waiting for.
Why I’m asking for your support:
I’d really appreciate your support in bringing this vision to life. With the funds raised through this campaign, I will be able to enroll in an incredible training program called “Intuitive Sequencing for Confident Teaching”. This 8-week program is designed to equip yoga teachers like me—especially those of us who are people of color—with the tools to create dynamic, rest-focused yoga classes rooted in functional movement and creative storytelling.
This training is more than just another certification; it’s an opportunity for me to deepen my understanding of the emotional, spiritual, and energetic aspects of yoga, regulate my nervous system, and reprogram my subconscious mind in community. I will learn to lead confident, performance-free classes that help my students feel safe, inspired, and connected to their bodies.
What I’ll be able to do with your support:
- Learn sequencing and trauma-sensitive facilitation skills to lead brave, emotionally intelligent spaces where everyone feels welcome and supported.
- Develop concise, confident cueing techniques that command the space, allowing me to demo less and lead more.
- Create unique yoga experiences that move beyond flexibility-focused flows, helping students feel at ease and empowered in their bodies.
- Break free from the pressure to perform and embrace my unique voice and story as a Black queer teacher.
Why this matters:
All the skills I will gain from this training are not just for me—they will ripple out into the communities I teach and hold space for. By investing in me, you are investing in a vision of yoga that is accessible, anti-racist, and deeply healing.
How you can help:
Every contribution, no matter the size, will bring me one step closer to enrolling in this life-changing program. If you’re unable to contribute financially, please consider sharing this campaign with your network—spreading the word is another powerful way to support my mission.
Thank you for believing in this vision and for supporting me on this journey. I hope to see you in class!
With love and care,
Camille
