Living these lives—the lives that we live, on a journey we ride; and the comfort level be God’s grace. I am grateful for my journey as an artist, flowing nomadically through overpopulated cities yet still thriving. I have made a home in communities that deserve more love; it was a grind, but it was special. At times, it made me miss the original home I had left, though I soon embraced new traditions shared by kindred spirits. I have learned that we are most vibrant when we can gather and feel safe. Experiencing that energy inspired my artistry. Being an actor means being a student of the human condition. Through my intentional observation of human life, a curiosity about the well-being of our consciousness grew within me, because our sensibility ultimately determines our reaction to this world and everything in it. This is how my desire to pursue a degree in Landscape Architecture came to be.
I am going back to school, and I am fully aware of how much of a privilege that is. I have an overwhelming amount of gratitude for how far I’ve come. This fall, I began my track as a master’s student at the University of Washington in a field that influences our relationship with the land we stand on. America has a very conflicted history with land, and I want to address the environmental trauma caused by the creation of this country. There is a lack of diversity in the profession, and for true healing to happen, it’s important to have individuals from a multitude of backgrounds and perspectives. This is a 3-year program, and I am seeking a little help along the way. The rigorous in-person class schedule doesn’t leave room for me to work a full-time job, and I was denied financial aid because of my current student loan debt. A donation of $30,000 will go toward my tuition and fees for the first year. In the following years, I will actively search for scholarships, as I was told by the department chair that more are available to second and third-year students. I am confident that I will succeed but will need a blessing to realize my vision for a better future. Any donation would be immensely appreciated and I thank you for your support.
