Aloha
I am Brylie Widdison
For the last six months I was able to do a DTS at YWAM Maui!
YWAM stands for Youth With A Mission. It is a mission organization that teaches young people to see God rightly, teaching what it means to be a genuine disciple of God, hearing his voice, and walking out our calling. They have 3 months of lecture phase. Where they teach you about God and the bible. Some lectures we had were, Fear of the Lord, Father Heart of God, hearing God's voice, holy spirit, Identity, prayer, studying the bible, worldview, and apologetics (defending the faith). In the 3 months of lecture phase they teach you 37 years worth of sermons. The lecture phase had a huge impact on me and my relationship with God. It helped me to see him rightly. We also helped with the base. I helped in the kitchen. I loved learning how to cook!
It was so amazing because we had people from Fuji, Switzerland, Blegum, and Canada. I loved becoming friends with them!
The other three months I was able to do an outreach to Japan!
The outreach phase is us pouring into the people of Japan, after we had our lecture phase where people were pouring into us!
We went to a few different locations in Japan, Tokyo, Otaruro, Takaski, and Okinawa
I loved that I was able to see different parts of Japan!
While I was in Japan I was able to teach English classes, university ministries, homeless ministry, helping at YWAM bases, board game ministry, children's ministries, free hugs, and cafe ministries.
My favorite ministry that I was able to do was a gospel cafe.
In Japan, the Japanese people love gospel music. So we handed out flyers for the event. My group was able to partner with a team from South Africa. We sang gospel music, shared testimonies, and at the end of the cafe we were able to pray for whoever wanted prayer!
I also loved the English classes! I loved getting to know the people and becoming friends with them! I loved the english class because they had questions such as “what do you think is the purpose of life”, to “describe what your wearing”
One night one of the questions was asked “what do you think should or should not be taught in schools?” I said “The bible should be taught in schools”
After the class was over a young woman came up to me and said that she is not a believer but she is very interested in the bible. She asked questions and I would answer them, (a lot of her questions were things I had learned during my lecture phase). We talked over the old and new testament, and how God is the same God as in the old and new testament, how the bible perfectly intertwined together, and so on. She walked with me and my group to the train station. We talked for about 2 hours. That was a friday night. On Monday night I helped with kids' English, which is put on by the same people who run the English class. They thanked me for talking to the woman because that Sunday she gave her life to Christ!! It was so cool to see God move and work in her life!
I am planning on going back to YWAM Maui for a secondary school called School of Biblical foundations. God has given me a heart for evangelism. In this school we look at the biblical world view and other worldview, and how to point people to God. We will also have a 3 month lecture phase and an outreach phase.
I am reaching out to see if you would support me through prayers and or finances, enabling me to reach all the nations with the gospel.
P.S. If you have any prayer requests I would LOVE to pray for YOU!
Thank you for your valuable time
