Hello, my name is Bright Effi Ankomah, and I’m from Ghana — the person this fundraiser is for.

Coming from a country where dreams are often crushed and ambition is hard to keep alive, my journey has not been easy. I grew up in a household that could barely afford a daily meal. I was raised in an environment where fear and superstition ruled — where I was told that witches were trying to take my life, and I began to live with constant fear, trauma, and confusion.

In my family, superstition is very strong. These beliefs and the spiritual pressure around me created deep emotional wounds that I still carry. I grew up not only in poverty, but also in silence — unable to tell my story, unable to understand why life felt so heavy at such a young age.

Despite all this, I held on to a small light: the dream of going to school. I would watch other children in their uniforms and pray for a day I could join them. Eventually, through the help of some kind pastors, I was able to get a basic education. But I only made it to Junior High School (JHS), as I couldn’t afford to continue further. I never got the chance to enter college or university. That reality broke me.

Now, I’m grateful to have met my dear friend Elaine, who believes in me and has started this fundraiser. But she cannot do it alone. My tuition fees are high, and I don’t even have a phone to support my studies. I am currently pursuing my dream of becoming a software engineer, but I need help.

With your support, I will be able to:

This moment means everything to me. I want to rise above the pain and fear I was born into and turn my story into a testimony. I believe that with this opportunity, not only will my life change, but I will also help others like me in the future.
