Hello! My name is Rebekah and I am raising funds to bring renowned Autism advocate and speaker, Kerry Magro, to Chandler Elementary School in Sherman Oaks, CA. My goal is to raise $1,500 to make this impactful event possible.
Kerry Magro is not only an autism self-advocate, but also a professional speaker, author, and educator. Diagnosed with autism at age 4 and initially nonverbal, Kerry overcame early challenges with the help of therapy and support. Today, he holds a doctorate in education and is a powerful voice for autism awareness and inclusion. His work includes authoring books like Defining Autism from the Heart and consulting for films and television shows to ensure authentic portrayals of individuals with autism. Kerry also leads the non-profit KFM Making a Difference, which provides scholarships to students with autism.
Kerry’s journey is deeply personal to me. My son, who was diagnosed with autism at age 3, is non-speaking and faces developmental delays. He currently participates in speech therapy, occupational therapy, feeding therapy, ABA, and adaptive physical education. Having Kerry speak at our school would be a transformative experience for both students and staff. It would provide valuable insight into autism, ADHD, and the importance of creating an inclusive environment for all children.
With many children at our school who have special needs, are on the autism spectrum, or have ADHD, this assembly represents a vital opportunity to raise awareness and advocate for our diverse community. Your support will help bring this important message to our school. Thank you for contributing to such a meaningful cause!
