Hello, I’m making this fundraiser for my wonderful significant other Anne. This is her message:
My predicament: Hi, my name is Anne. I'm a disabled young adult who is an ambulatory wheelchair user. For the past two years, I've been using a power wheelchair on days when my health problems flare up. It also makes it possible for me to do things that I would otherwise never be able to do like go to the store or spend time in nature. Unfortunately, the person who generously gifted me the chair has decided she wants to take it back. Having a powerchair has really improved my quality of life, so I am fundraising to buy one of my own.
My life: I am an avid poet, activist, and animal-lover. Some of the most fulfilling things in my life are petting cats, participating in protests, hanging out with Parker, and going to church. I may not be able to do many things that other people my age do, but I am dedicated to using what skills and passions I have for good.
My disabilities: I experience dizziness, chronic pain, and extreme fatigue from several chronic illnesses, including a connective tissue disorder and a type of dysautonomia. Some days I have some limited mobility, but on other days, my symptoms are too bad to do anything without a wheelchair. Additionally, I do not have the strength or stamina to wheel myself with a manual wheelchair, and my family members are also disabled, meaning they cannot push me. A powerchair allows me to have freedom and independence that would be otherwise completely unattainable. Any support would be much appreciated.
